With expert guidance, you’ll learn traditional hand-building techniques and how to push their boundaries — forming shapes that reflect not just what you need, but who you are. You’ll be encouraged to experiment with form, texture, and creative expression as you sculpt a piece that feels grounded, beautiful, and uniquely yours.

Once complete, your work will be glazed and fired — ready to collect in about 4 weeks.

✨ How PIE Ceramics Workshops Work

Our ceramics workshops are one-off sessions designed for intensive skill-sharing in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. Whether you’re just starting your journey with clay or already have some experience and want to explore a new technique, this is the perfect chance to get your hands dirty, learn something new — and follow your creativity wherever it leads.

Each workshop focuses on a specific process or form, guided by a professional ceramic artist. You’ll learn the core technique step by step, then have space to experiment, personalise, and take your piece in whatever direction feels right to you. It’s structured, supportive, and creatively wide open.

Workshops take place in our cosy, fully-equipped studios in Zürich and Basel, where everything’s set up to support your creative flow — including materials, tools, good lighting, and good vibes.

No pressure, no perfection — just the joy of discovering what you can create with your own two hands.

• Arrival: Please come 10–15 minutes early to settle in and grab your welcome drink
• Cancellations: Tickets are transferable, but non-refundable within 36 hours
• Rescheduling: Possible up to 72 hours before the workshop
• Pickup: Pieces are ready around 4 weeks after your session
• All levels welcome — no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy

Saturday morning art fun for kids (and cool parents too)

No need to change out of your jammies — just roll in, grab a smoothie, and get painting!

This fun-filled Saturday class is made for kids aged 6–12 and packed with creative projects, giggles, and good vibes. Parents are welcome to join and paint side-by-side with their little artists (yes, matching masterpieces are totally a thing).

Here’s how it flows:
🕥 10:15–10:30 → Drop-off + smoothies & snacks
🎨 10:30–12:00 → Guided art project time
📸 12:00–12:15 → Pick-up + silly family photos (encouraged!)

The theme changes every week, but one thing’s for sure: it’ll be a crowd-pleaser — colourful, fun, and totally kid-approved.

We paint on high-quality 300 g mixed media paper. If you’d like to upgrade to a canvas  (perfect for framing or exhibiting), please make sure to include this add-on when selecting your ticket type.

This playful Saturday morning class is made for kids aged 6–12 who want to squish, shape, and sculpt their way through clay. From mini statues to funky mugs, we get hands-on and a little messy — all in the name of creativity.

Parents are welcome to join and co-create with their kids. Whether you’re making masterpieces together or working side-by-side, it’s a weekend win.

Here’s how it flows:

In this wheel-throwing taster workshop, you’ll learn how to center, pull, and shape clay like a true ceramic boss. It’s messy, magical, and way more satisfying than your average Saturday scroll session.

You’ll get hands-on with the basics of wheel-throwing — and walk away with at least one piece to call your own. Plus, you’ll leave knowing whether this hobby is a fling or the beginning of a full-blown love affair.

No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity — we’ll handle the spin cycle.

Golden Luster Ceramic Workshop

In this special 2 hours workshop, you will learn how to apply real gold luster to your ceramic pieces and create elegant metallic accents that shine after firing. This class is suitable for beginners as well as returning artists who want to elevate their work with luxurious details.

What we will do:
Over the course of two hours, our instructor will guide you through the process of working with golden luster—how to prepare your ceramic surface, apply the luster safely, create clean lines and decorative highlights, and achieve the best results after firing.

Bring your own pieces – or use ours:
You’re welcome to bring glazed ceramics you previously created in our studio, or you can choose from a small selection of studio pieces provided for the workshop. Gold lustre can be applied to most glazed surfaces, adding beautiful accents such as outlines, patterns, lettering, or decorative highlights.
One medium sized piece to paint is included, and you can still choose more items on the spot.

Important information:
1. Health & Safety
Golden luster is a speciality ceramic material that contains real gold and should be handled with care. It has a strong smell, so we’ll use small amounts and keep the room well-ventilated. Please avoid touching your face while painting and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.

Keep luster away from food, drinks, and personal items. A tiny bit goes a long way—use it sparingly and always keep jars closed when not in use. If you’re pregnant or sensitive to strong scents, please let us know so we can offer extra guidance or alternatives.

We’ll show you exactly how to apply the luster safely, and all firing is done by us. Your golden pieces will be ready for pickup in about two weeks.

2. FIRING
Golden luster requires a separate firing at a lower temperature. Because of this, you will not be able to take your pieces home after the class.
Firing takes approximately 2 weeks, after which you can pick up your finished ceramics at the studio.

3. Cost & amount
Please note: Gold luster is a very precious material — it contains real gold and is therefore quite expensive. For this reason, we use it only in small amounts during the workshop and allow only limited golden details. This ensures that everyone has enough material and that we can work with it responsibly.
