Workshop
Weekly classes to build real skills, step by step.
What we will be doing
Splash. Drip. Splatter. Total freedom.
The perfect stress release after a tense week.
In this action painting session, you’ll suit up in full-body protective overalls, grab your colours, and step into a space designed for making a glorious mess. Channel your inner Pollock as you throw, pour, drip, and smear paint with energy and spontaneity.
But this experience can be as wild — or as introspective — as you want it to be.
Beyond the action, this workshop also opens the door to intuitive painting: a space to slow down, tune in, and connect with your inner landscape. Through a short but meaningful introduction to colour theory, you’ll explore how thoughts and emotions can be translated into colour, movement, and form.
You’ll experiment with layering, different tools, and a wide range of mark-making techniques — from bold, expressive gestures to more subtle, intentional strokes. Throwing paint is just one of many possibilities — you choose where to place your focus.
No rules, no pressure — just pure expression, guided by our artists who support your individual approach and meet you where you are.
This is more than fun — it’s liberating. You’ll leave not only with a unique artwork, but with new ways to express yourself, release tension, and tap into your creativity — on and off the canvas.
✨ How PIE Action Painting Workshops Run
You arrive, take a breath, pick your welcome drink — and instead of sitting down, you step into it. You’ll get your protective overalls, switch into painting mode, and get ready to let go a little. We start on time, so make sure you’re there and ready to dive in.
Next, your instructor takes the stage, giving you a quick, easy intro to the materials and tools — showing you what’s possible, how to move, splash, layer, and play. Nothing overwhelming, just getting you comfortable and ready to experiment.
Then the fun really begins. You’ll explore layering, different tools, and a wide range of mark-making techniques. The space is yours to explore: move between the splashing area, where you can let loose, and the refining area, where you can slow things down and shape your piece. Throughout the session, your instructor is there to guide you with personal tips and support.
At the end, we bring everyone together for a group photo — with your finished piece and great vibes.
No prior experience? No problem! We provide everything*:
- A chill, friendly atmosphere
- All the necessary art supplies

- A mix of demonstration & individual guidance
* We provide protective overalls, but we highly recommend not wearing your favourite or most expensive clothes, as paint may still seep through. Please also bring a pair of socks that you don’t mind getting paint on or wet.
All you need to bring is your good vibes and curiosity! We’ll take care of the rest — starting with a complimentary welcome drink 🥂 to spark your creativity.

Weitere Infos
We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes before the workshop starts so you have time to enjoy your complimentary welcome drink before changing into your protective overalls and getting ready for the experience.
Our workshops begin punctually. After everyone has suited up, your artist will introduce the different Action Painting materials, tools and techniques before guiding the group through an exciting journey into abstract painting. You’ll learn the fundamentals of working with acrylics in an Action Painting setting, including paint dilution, layering, composition, colour relationships, texture and the different effects that can be achieved with a wide variety of creative tools.
Throughout the workshop, your artwork will gradually evolve over approximately two hours through a continuous process of acting, observing and reacting. While everyone explores the same artistic principles together, every participant develops a completely unique painting guided by their own intuition and creative decisions.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll happily take photos of you and your finished artwork. We’ll also dry your painting as much as possible so you can safely take it home.
Your ticket includes everything you need for an unforgettable Action Painting experience:
🎨 All paints, acrylic mediums and creative materials
🖼️ A 40 × 50 cm canvas
👩🎨 Guided instruction by one of our artists throughout the workshop

🥂 A complimentary welcome drink
✨ A relaxed, inspiring and wonderfully messy atmosphere

Not at all!
Our Action Painting Workshops are suitable for everyone—from complete beginners to experienced artists.
Your instructor will introduce all techniques step by step while giving you the freedom to interpret and develop your artwork in your own way.
No.
Unlike our classic painting workshops, there is no predefined motif.
Everyone learns the same techniques and artistic principles together, but every participant develops a completely unique abstract artwork through their own creative process.
No two paintings will ever look alike.
Throughout the workshop, your instructor will demonstrate a wide variety of Action Painting techniques while introducing the artistic principles behind abstract painting.
You’ll learn how to work with acrylic paints, experiment with paint dilution, layering, composition, colour relationships, texture and movement, while discovering how abstract artworks develop over time through intuitive decision-making.
Rather than copying a finished painting, you’ll learn how to create your own.
The workshop begins under normal lighting, allowing you to build the foundation of your abstract artwork using acrylic paints and Action Painting techniques.
Around halfway through the experience, we dim the lights, switch on the UV lighting and continue painting with fluorescent colours and glowing accents. This creates spectacular effects that completely transform your artwork under blacklight.
Your finished painting looks beautiful in normal daylight and reveals an entirely different character under UV light.
We provide full protective overalls for everyone.
However, because this workshop involves splashing, dripping and throwing paint, we still recommend wearing clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little colourful—just in case your creativity gets particularly enthusiastic!
Every workshop ticket includes one complimentary welcome drink to help you settle in and get your creativity flowing.
Typical options include:
- ☕ Coffee, tea or matcha
- 🧋 Iced tea
- 🌿 Mate
- 🌸 Rhubarb Schorley
- 🍊 Orange lemonade
- 🫚 Ginger beer
- 🍺 Beer (18+)
- 🍷 Wine (18+)
- 🥂 Prosecco (18+)
The exact selection may vary slightly between locations, but we’ll always have something delicious waiting for you.
We generally recommend taking your artwork home with you after the workshop.
We’ll dry your painting as much as possible before you leave. Acrylic paint dries surprisingly quickly and, once dry, forms a very durable surface that’s perfectly safe to transport.
For artworks up to 40 × 50 cm, we’ll provide a paper carry bag.
Larger canvases don’t fit into our bags, but there’s no need to worry. Once dry, acrylic paintings are remarkably robust and can easily be transported by hand without additional wrapping.
If you’d still prefer to leave your artwork with us, you’re welcome to do so. We can store it for up to seven days, after which we unfortunately can’t guarantee continued storage.
While we take great care of all artworks left in our studios, we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage during storage.
Absolutely!
Action Painting is one of our most popular experiences for birthdays, team events, bachelor and bachelorette parties and private celebrations.
If you’re planning something special, we’d love to help you create an unforgettable colourful experience.
While both experiences celebrate creativity, they’re designed very differently.
Our Action Painting Workshop is a guided experience led by one of our artists. Together, you’ll learn Action Painting techniques, artistic principles and the foundations of abstract composition while gradually developing your own unique artwork.
The Action Painting Park is a self-guided creative experience. After a short introduction, you’re free to explore the materials, techniques and creative tools at your own pace, without a structured workshop or instructor-led programme.
Whether you prefer artistic guidance or complete creative freedom—both experiences offer a wonderfully colourful way to express yourself.
