Paint like Monet: ‘Water lilies‘
Guided Event (Maestro)
Saturday, 25th March,
17:00 - 20:00
Monet's waterlilies are a true masterpiece of Impressionism. This painting by Stephanie Clark depicts Monet's beloved water garden at his home in Giverny, France, with delicate brushstrokes and a subtle interplay of light and shadow. The reflections of the trees and sky in the water add another layer of beauty to the scene. As we use the image as inspiration for our own version, we feel a sense of awe for Monet's talent and hope to capture the beauty and peacefulness of his waterlilies.

From studies of lipsticks and paint cans to sprawling cityscapes, the paintings of Wayne Thiebaud (1920–2021) instilled everyday life with irony and humour. ‘The Lonely Cedar‘
Guided Event (Maestro)
Saturday, 1st April,
18:00 - 21:00
“The Lonely Cedar” depicts a Cedar of Lebanon atop a hill, overlooking a valley that stretches to the horizon. The painting is cropped in such a way that this single, and singular tree fills the canvas from top to bottom. Firstly, one of the branches is formed from a bird’s head. This bird, or goose, is turned away from us and gazes out serenely over the valley. On its head, sits a dark crown, a cosmic ear listening to the music of the universe, listening to the whispered instructions of the master.

Paint like Monet: ‘Woman with a parasol‘
Guided Event (Maestro)
Saturday, 8th April,
16:30 - 20:00
In the two open air studies, Woman with a Parasol, Turned to the Left, and Woman with a Parasol, Turned to the Right, Monet was fascinated by the very low viewpoint from which the model is shown; she stands on a riverbank against a background of pale blue sky. The young woman in both pictures is Suzanne Hoschedé, one of the daughters of Alice Hoschedé, who was to become Monet's second wife in 1889. His future stepdaughter Suzanne was to be for a long time one of the painter's favourite models.

Paint like Thiebaud: ’Cat and Traffic’
Guided Event (Maestro)
Saturday, 22nd April,
16:30 - 19:30
This painting captures the unique San Francisco landscape in deliciously appealing candy colors. It features the basic shapes of urban scenery, including the high arch of the interstate in the distance, the long shadow of a high-rise building, and the corner of an apartment balcony overlooking it all. Thiebaud's brushstrokes construct the scene as if he were a storyteller narrating a dialogue within the pictorial space. Amidst the urban scene, a lone cat perches on a balcony, observing the traffic below. Thiebaud's shift away from the serial repetition of his Pop imagery results in a celebration of the built environment with a touch of whimsy provided by the feline observer.

‘Paint like Vincent: Sunflowers‘
Guided Event (Maestro)
Saturday, 29th April,
16:30 - 19:30
Van Gogh’s paintings of Sunflowers are among his most famous. He did them in Arles, in the south of France, in 1888 and 1889. Vincent painted a total of five large canvases with sunflowers in a vase, with three shades of yellow ‘and nothing else’. In this way, he demonstrated that it was possible to create an image with numerous variations of a single colour, without any loss of eloquence.

Intuitive (action) Painting
Workshop
Sunday, 21st May,
15:00 - 18:00
Unlike our other workshops, where we focus on certain techniques and steps to reach a particular result, here we are all about the process of creating, and not the end-result. Perhaps you’ll create something beautiful, perhaps you’ll create something beautifully chaotic. Either way, the only goal is to let go of our obsession with goals. Embrace your intuition and let go of your thoughts, all we ask you to bring is yourself.

Paint like Thiebaud: ’Girl with Pink Hat’

Thiebaud's painting depicts a young woman wearing a pink hat against a crisp white background. The brushstrokes are thick and textured, giving the painting a sense of depth and dimensionality. The woman's face is serene and contemplative, with a hint of melancholy in her expression. The pink hat is a bright pop of color against the muted tones of the background, drawing the viewer's eye to the subject. Thiebaud's use of color and texture adds to the painting's overall sense of mood and emotion, creating a powerful and evocative work of art.

The rugged cliffs provide a striking contrast to the softness of the sea and sky, with Monet's loose brushstrokes suggesting the movement of waves.
