What we will be doing

The Human Form in Four Weeks — One Line at a Time

Want to draw people that feel alive?

This four-week course is all about understanding the structure, movement, and rhythm of the human body — and giving you the tools, techniques, and confidence to capture it with ease.

You’ll explore proportion, gesture, anatomy, balance, and expression through a series of dynamic drawing sessions. Using pencil, charcoal, and pastel, you’ll learn to build figures from simple shapes into full, flowing compositions that tell a story.

Each class includes a short demo and guided exercises. We’ll start with quick gesture sketches and anatomy studies from reference photos — and in the final week, you’ll draw from a live model right in the Studio.

✏️ What to Expect

  • A deep dive into figure drawing fundamentals over 4 evening sessions
  • Work with pencil, charcoal, pastel, and sanguine
  • Learn gesture, anatomy, proportion, and movement
  • Weekly drawing exercises from photo and observation
  • A full live model session in the final class
  • Support, feedback, and gentle critique throughout

    🎒 What’s Included
  • All drawing materials (paper, boards, tools, etc.)
  • Studio use & safe artwork storage between sessions
  • Live model posing in Week 4
  • Individual guidance and instructor feedback

Just bring your curiosity and a positive attitude — we’ll take care of the rest!

💡 What You’ll Learn

  • Figure construction: body proportions, anatomy, and balance
  • Gesture drawing and capturing movement
  • Light, shadow, and form to create depth
  • Expressive linework and dynamic composition
  • How to bring energy and character into your figures

🥂 First Class Vibes: Sips & Hellos
We like to kick things off on a warm and social note. During the first class, we’ll take a little extra time to get to know each other — and we’ll toast to the beginning of your creative journey with a welcome drink.

📦 A Few More Things to Know

  • Arrival: Please come 15 minutes early to settle in and connect with your classmates.
  • Storage: We’ll safely store your creations between classes and package them nicely at the end of the course.
  • Keep practicing: Learning doesn’t stop when class ends. We recommend joining our studio sessions to continue growing in a supportive, creative community.

What are PIE multi-day course?

Do I need drawing experience?

Yes — this course is for participants with some basic drawing knowledge. If you’re just starting out, we recommend our Introduction to Drawing course as a perfect first step!

Will we draw nude models?

Yes — but only during the last session. Before that, we’ll work from photo references and clothed models. By the time we draw from the nude model, you’ll be ready and confident.

What should I bring with me?

You don’t need to bring anything — we provide all the necessary materials. Just show up ready to focus, draw, and explore the human face through observation and practice.
