Get ready to receive invaluable tips and hints from real-life artists. Through hands-on instruction, each class will focus on applying the learned techniques and principles to create stunning paintings.

What to expect:

• Explore Painting Tools: Get hands-on experience with various paintbrushes and palettes, as you learn how to create captivating strokes and blend colors seamlessly.
• Discover Solvents: We'll introduce you to common solvents used in oil painting and provide guidance on their safe handling and proper disposal.
• Engaging Demonstrations: Each class starts with a clear explanation and a live demonstration by our experienced art teacher, setting the stage for your painting journey.

What is included:

All materials such as paper, painting tools, cardboards, canvases, etc. are included in the course, so students do not need to bring anything except a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

What you will learn:

During the course, students will learn the basics of oil painting, including handling the brush and palette knife, mixing colors, and applying paint to achieve the desired effect. They will learn how to use light and shadow to create the illusion of form and depth in their paintings. Additionally, they will learn how to choose the right equipment and paint for their needs, including an understanding of different paint types and brush styles. 

Is this course right for me?

This course is designed for beginners with no previous painting experience or knowledge, but those with some experience can also benefit from the course to organize their existing knowledge and develop effective working processes. For more experienced students, we recommend attending intermediate level thematic oil courses, or joining one of our studio classes. 

Some important things to keep in mind:

• We encourage all students to arrive 15 minutes before the start of class. This will allow us to start on time and will give you the opportunity to socialize with other students and share painting tips, discuss at-home practice, and provide help or receive help from others. This will help everyone improve their skills and achieve better results.
• We will be happy to store your artwork throughout the course. On the last class we nicely package it so you can take it home and have guiding references while practicing your newly acquired skills.
• This course will provide you with a continuation of the basic knowledge and skills needed for painting, but it is important to practice regularly to fully incorporate this knowledge. Our studio classes offer the opportunity to continue practicing in a community of like-minded individuals up to two days a week (coming soon to PIE Zürich...).
