PAINT & SIP
Paint. Meet. Have Fun.

This is a delightful painting in acrylic of poppies and flowers at dusk, on a summer’s day. Poppies are glorious in their apparent abandonment of form and structure. You will familiarize yourself with layering and color mixing with acrylics and you will be applying the paint with some bold brushstrokes to get stunning results.

In the two open air studies, Woman with a Parasol, Turned to the Left, and Woman with a Parasol, Turned to the Right, Monet was fascinated by the very low viewpoint from which the model is shown; she stands on a riverbank against a background of pale blue sky. The young woman in both pictures is Suzanne Hoschedé, one of the daughters of Alice Hoschedé, who was to become Monet's second wife in 1889. His future stepdaughter Suzanne was to be for a long time one of the painter's favourite models.

While this painting - Freya’s Tears - is often attributed to Gustav Klimt, it isn’t one of his. This evocative piece was created by Anne Marie Zilberman whose work leans toward facial close-ups. Though not a Klimt, it captures the duality of weeping - that tears can be both for joy and sorrow. And either are as valuable as gold.

"The negative associations with chubby and gay birds fail to take into account the kind of joy that chubby and gay birds experience when they accept themselves and can live full lives. Representation of chubby and gay birds being happy and living good lives is more likely to lead to health and happiness than campaigns to increase stigma."
