Course Description:
Our Oil Painting II course is designed to build upon the foundational skills and techniques learned in Oil Painting I, and to challenge students to further develop their abilities with this rich and lustrous medium. The course spans four weeks on weekday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, and covers advanced oil painting techniques. Each lesson focuses on creating a painting that incorporates the previously learned techniques and principles.
What to Expect:
Throughout the course, students will experiment with more advanced painting tools and techniques, including palette knife painting and glazing. We will also delve into the use of various mediums and additives to manipulate the properties of the paint, and teach students how to use these safely and effectively. Each lesson will begin with a clear explanation and demonstration of the topic by the art teacher, followed by painting exercises.
What's Included:
All materials, including canvases, paints, brushes, and mediums, are included in the course, so students need only bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
What You Will Learn:
- Over the course of the program, students will learn how to create more complex compositions and utilize advanced color theory to create more dynamic and expressive paintings.
- We will also cover techniques for creating various textures and effects, such as impasto and scumbling, and explore ways to incorporate mixed media into oil paintings.
- Students will have the opportunity to further develop their sense of observation, as well as their ability to mix colors accurately and achieve the desired effects.
- In addition, we will cover the basics of color theory and color mixing, as well as the use of color temperature and value to create mood and atmosphere in paintings.

This course is designed for students who have completed Oil Painting I, or who have equivalent experience with oil painting. It is also suitable for more experienced students looking to expand their skills and knowledge in oil painting techniques. For advanced students, we recommend attending one of our studio classes or advanced courses to continue their development as artists. Join us now and take the next step in your oil painting journey.
Some important things to keep in mind:
- We encourage all students to arrive 15 minutes before the start of class. This will allow us to start on time and will give you the opportunity to socialize with other students and share painting tips, discuss at-home practice, and provide help or receive help from others. This will help everyone improve their skills and achieve better results.
- We will be happy to store your artwork throughout the course. On the last class we nicely package it so you can take it home and have guiding references while practicing your newly acquired skills.
- This course is the continuation of a previous painting with acrylics module course for beginner students. You may want to consider purchasing both modules as a package to receive a 10% discount on your purchase.
- This course will provide you with a continuation of the basic knowledge and skills needed for painting, but it is important to practice regularly to fully incorporate this knowledge. Our study groups offer the opportunity to continue practicing in a community of like-minded individuals up to two days a week (Mondays and Wednesdays, from 19.00 to 21.30).
