Design and create a layered papercut composition using the techniques learned throughout the course.

One of the hottest graphic design trends today are papercut illustrations. Inspired by actual paper cutting art, this trend is quickly gaining speed. Papercut illustrations recreate compositions made of different layers of paper which means depth and specific textures are must-have elements. What
we always love about papercut illustration is the bold, striking, expressive and very graphical visual language. And we are sure you will be obsessed with it too.

With the help of Lucy dive into the tools and materials needed for the course before looking at some key concepts and how to capture your design on paper.

Then grab your craft knife and get cutting. Start by making basic geometric shapes, combining them and playing with negative space to create simple compositions.

Once you have mastered the basic cutting techniques, Lucy shows you how to sketch a portrait from a photograph and transform it into a simple design for your final project.

Cut, glue, and assemble all the pieces of your composition layer by layer to create a mixed media masterpiece with volume.

As for materials, we have got you covered. We will use colored card stock, painter's tape, foam board, spray glue, a craft knife, a large ruler, scissors tweezers, and a cutting surface. The deep set frame (20cm x 20cm, inner size) is also included in the workshop fee.
