‘Pop Art Marilyn‘
Guided Event
Friday, 23rd August,
19:00 - 21:15
Andy Warhol’s Marilyn series is distinctly recognisable. It is a vibrant and glamorous portrayal of the actress Marilyn Monroe that has become symbolic of 20th century popular culture. Warhol first depicted Monroe shortly after her death in 1962 in the Marilyn Diptych, a series of screen print paintings based on a 20th Century Fox still
The Marilyn series is a quintessential example of Warhol's obsession with celebrity culture and repetition. His distinctive technique in screen printing, combined with the artist's energy and willingness to self-publicise, allowed Warhol to play a significant role in redirecting the course of art history.
PIE Events
Treat yourself to a creative night out where you can relax, enjoy drinks and snacks, and unleash your inner artist. Whether you're with friends or making new ones, this event offers a perfect blend of creativity and fun.
We host these events multiple times a week at our Studio, in various bars and restaurants around town, and even in outdoor settings. No prior experience is needed! We provide all the art supplies, a tracing template, and step-by-step instructions from local artists. You can simply let go and focus on the joy of painting while sipping on an "artsy" cocktail and enjoying a night of laughter and creativity.
What to Expect
At the start of the session, your instructor will demonstrate the materials and give a brief overview of color mixing. Using a tracing template, you’ll sketch the outlines of your peach slices—no drawing skills required! Then, with your instructor’s guidance, you'll bring your painting to life.
We’ll capture lots of photos to remember the evening, and end the session with fun group pictures—silly poses encouraged! You'll take home your painting, safely packed in a recycled paper bag.
